HIGH SCHOOL CAREER SERVICES CENTER
Welcome High School students!
Whether you're a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior -- it's never too early -- or too late -- to plan for your future career! The Career Services Center can help! Chances are a lot of people are telling you what you should or shouldn't be when you grow up. While getting advice from peers and family can be helpful, it's not a substitute for real career planning -- the kind you can get at the Career Services Center. We don't tell you what to do with your life. Instead, we offer you ideas from which to choose based on your interests, skills, talents, personality, and job market trends. We want you to learn about jobs: what you do on the job, how much money you can make, and how you should be trained. Since 80% of all jobs in the near future will require some education beyond high school, we'll help you explore options for continuing education too. Together, we'll help you figure out what's right for you and your future. Mission Statement Because all students are entitled to a quality education, High School Career Center believes that its primary responsibility is to help each student develop technical skills, academic skills, and social skills to prepare them for the world and workforce for the future. What are some things you might do at the Career Center ? 1. Complete a Career Check List 2. Learn about the steps in career planning 3. Get a presentation on the resources/references in the Center 4. Take an interest test and personality assessment on the computer 5. Get a match between test results and possible careers 6. Research the vital statistics about those careers 7. Attend public presentations, tours, or career fairs to learn more about career opportunities. 7. Search for and apply to companies for apprenticeships or internships, community colleges, technical schools, the military, and/or universities that will gear you toward a career in those fields best suited to your particular interests, values, personality and ability. |
