The data collection part of the research study on "Temperament-based Learning Styles: Implications for Distance Education" was completed December 1, 2002.
Feel free to review the DES questions, but note that there is no longer a submit button included which is needed to send answers to the researcher.

Distance Education Survey
Coleman College's distance education (DE) courses intend to provide an interactive Internet-based learning experience facilitated by an instructor and emphasizing the use of threaded discussions among students.
This survey is open to Coleman College students who have experience in taking classes via distance education -- meaning you have taken, had started, or are currently taking a class via DE. The survey will take approximately 5 - 10 minutes. Thank you very much for your participation!
You are invited to participate in a research study conducted by Patricia M. Higgins, M.S., Doctoral Candidate in Capella University's Psychology Program. You were selected as a possible participant in this study because you are a Coleman College student who has taken, had started or are currently taking a course via distance education. Your participation is voluntary. It is possible to withdraw from the study at any time during the research without penalty from the school that has allowed the research to be done. Any information that is obtained in connection with this study and that can be identified with you will remain confidential. When the results of the research are published or discussed, no information will be included that would reveal your identity. You cannot take this survey more than once. A summary of the research study is included at the bottom of this page. If you have any questions or concerns about the research, please feel free to contact: phiggins@coleman.edu or (619) 465-3990 or her faculty mentor, Theresa Crawford, Psy.D., at tcrawfordpsyd@aol.com or call Dr. Gail Lorenz at Capella University at 1-888-227-3552, ext. 5259.Title of study:
Temperament-based Learning Styles: Implications for Distance Education
Abstract:
What relationships exist among temperament-based learning style preferences, tendencies toward extraversion or introversion, grades and students' opinions about distance education? As distance education becomes more widespread, additional research is needed to discover which factors may influence students' decisions to take distance education classes. Information about students' temperaments, learning styles, grades, and attitudes toward distance learning may also assist instructional designers in tailoring courses to best meet students' needs.
Coleman College student volunteers will take two online assessments: the Keirsey Temperament Sorter II (KTS-II) and a researcher-designed Distance Education Survey (DES). This study will determine if relationships exist among students' temperament-based learning styles, tendencies toward extraversion or introversion, grades, and attitudes toward distance education. Relationships among these variables will be calculated using various descriptive statistics, such as contingency tables, analyses of variance, and Tukey's HSD. Answers to a qualitative question on the DES will be analyzed for common themes.
Higgins would like to thank the AdvisorTeam for its generosity in providing scoring of the Keirsey Temperament Sorter II free of charge for this study.
The AdvisorTeam invites you to visit the following link to another online survey, the Learning Orientation Questionnaire (LOQ), by clicking: http://www.advisorteam.com/groups/ktsintro.asp . The LOQ survey is not affiliated with or endorsed by Higgins, Capella University, or Coleman College. Login using Group Name = coleman and Group Password = collegeloq.
